Moto2: Luthi takes top spot in the rain

1 of 1

Thomas Luthi has taken pole position for tomorrow’s Moto2 race at the Dutch TT, holding out in treacherous conditions at Assen to take the top spot from Johann Zarco and Dominique Aegerter.

He finished the session nearly half a second clear of the reigning world champion, but with Aegerter only 0.047 behind the Frenchman

Sam Lowes was fourth, admitting that he made the most of circumstances to hold off Franco Morbidelli and Takaai Nakagami.

“When it’s like this you must be happy just to be close to the front, because anything can happen. In the end the result is not so good, but fourth position is ok. For the race I feel really good: we will see what the weather brings tomorrow, but we know that we worked hard all weekend so we are confident. I feel we can make a good job.”

Fellow Brit and reigning Moto3 world champion Danny Kent was 18th.
