Brad Binder has taken the Red Bull Ajo KTM to the top spot in the Moto3 class on the opening day of action at Jerez, ending the day 0.1 ahead of the Honda of Jorge Navarro.

They headed a Team Sky VR46 KTM double act in third and fourth, with rookie Nicolo Bulega getting the better of teammate Romano Fenati, who didn’t improve from FP1 to the second session.

Niccolo Antonelli was fifth, ahead of a strong showing from the Aspar Mahindra machines of Martin and Bagnaia, while Argentinian winner Pawi rounded out the top ten.

John McPhee mirrored his fellow Mahindras on the Peugeot-branded machine to take 18th, an improvement on other Friday sessions so far this year.
