Lowes raises the bar in Moto2 practice

Sam Lowes has raised the bar in Moto2 free practice three, by taking his pace into the low 1:59 second laps and leaving his opposition behind as he asserts his control on the class ahead of this weekend’s opening race.

Lowes set the fastest ever Moto2 lap of the Losail track with his 1:59.262 lap, finishing 0.211 ahead of Thomas Luthi and Luca Baldassarri.

Marcel Schrotter was fourth, ahead of yesterday’s fastest man Jonas Folger and reigning world champion Johann Zarco.

Moto3 champion Danny Kent was also able to make significant improvements to move forwards to 13th place. The Leopard Kalex racer says he’s pleased with his pace so far, as he aims for a top ten finish at his first race in the class since 2013.

Moto2’s next track action will be tomorrow and qualifying, after today’s single session for the intermediate class.
