Mugen reveal McGuinness and Anstey's TT Zero challenger

1 of 2

Mugen have unveiled the Shinden San that John McGuinness and Bruce Anstey will compete in this year’s electric TT Zero race at the Isle of Man in June, with the machine gaining a more aerodynamic shape over last year’s bike.

With main rivals (and three time winners) Motoczysz sitting out the 2014 event, McGuinness’ main rival could well be teammate Anstey, with the Mugen and American Motoczysz machines being the clear favourites in recent years.

The new bike weighs 240kg and puts out around 135bhp, but the electric motor allows it to generate a whopping 220Nm – almost double the 110Nm produced by Honda’s new Fireblade SP model that McGuinness and Anstey will compete in the superstock class.

A spokesman for the team said: “we are extremely excited to have secured the services of two such experienced proven winners around the TT mountain course, and the team will be pulling out all the stops to provide them with the machinery to go for the first TT Zero victory for Team Mugen.”
