1 of 1

The 2014 road racing season promised to be a vintage year and it didn’t disappoint. The defection of Michael Dunlop from Honda to BMW during the winter set the tone for a year of change that saw new names push their way in amongst the established figures and make their mark in the sport. These are MCN’s pick of the top names and their standout achievements between the hedges in 2014.

10th Conor Cummins

  • Wins: 0
  • Podiums: 4

One rider who knows all about having to overcome adversity is Conor Cummins. The Ramsey rider has had to reclimb a mountain after sliding off the side of Snaefell and suffering horrendous injuries during the 2010 Senior TT. The 28 year old became John McGuinness’s team mate in the factory Honda squad for 2014.

With the ‘Morecambe Missile’ hampered by injury, Cummins stepped up to the mark to score podium finishes in the Superbike and Senior TTs, ensuring the Manxman will retain his Honda seat for next season.
