TT schedule set for major revamp

The schedule for the 2016 Isle of Man TT will look very different form the past few years, with both Solo and Sidecar champions set to be crowned on a single day, as the second chairs race moves to join the Senior TT on the final Friday.

Falling on the tenth of June next year, the new schedule is designed to give an even more improved experience for fans, teams and sponsors, as TT & Motorsport Development Manager Paul Phillips commented as the news was announced.

“The changes to the schedule for TT 2016 announced today are being implemented to improve the experience for the riders, the teams and the race fans all at the same time. We believe that crowning both the sidecar and solo champions on the final day of racing will be a fitting finale to the programme and reinforce our commitment to the sidecar class as an integral part of the programme.”

The changes will also see the Lightweight TT, now moved to Wednesday, expanding from three to four laps, while the practice order will be updated to take away the Sidecar practice on the opening night thanks to their new later race date.
