Thursday’s proceedings at the North West 200 were cut shut after a red flag during the evening’s supertwins race.

The race, which had already been re-started following a fire on the circuit, was stopped at half distance after an incident involving leaders Ryan Farquhar and Dan Cooper on the coast road.

Both riders are reported to have non-life threatening injuries and have since been transferred to hospital. Cooper was taken to the Causeway hospital in Coleraine and Farquhar to the Royal Victoria in Belfast.

Organisers have yet to confirm the result for the supertwin race and the postponed superstock race is expected to be rescheduled for Saturday.
