Farquhar to ride Tyco BMW at North West 200

Ryan Farquhar has secured a last minute deal to line-up alongside Ian Hutchinson in the Tyco BMW squad at next week’s North West 200.

The veteran roads star had originally signed up to race the Isle of Man TT with Tyco-backed TAS Racing in place of Guy Martin, but will now also compete aboard the factory-backed S1000RR at the famous Triangle circuit in preparation for taking on the mountain course next month.

Farquhar got his first taste of the Tyco BMW in a shakedown test alongside team-mate Hutchinson and a number of other roads riders at Kirkistown today.

“I was happy with the deal to ride the TT on the Tyco BMW, but deep down I was also hoping that a deal would be sort for the North West also,” said Farquhar. “I’ve had a full day with the team, perfecting set-up on the bike, which means we don’t waste two days at the North West.

“As expected it’s some piece of kit and I’m really looking forward to getting more mileage on it and racing it in the Superbike class. I think we can do a pretty decent job.”

The International North West 200 officially kicks off on 8th May with racing taking place Thursday 12th and Saturday 14th
