Qualifying hat-trick for Seeley with Superbike pole

Alastair Seeley completed a hat-trick of pole positions at this year’s North West 200 after topping the second and final superbike session.

Seeley’s lap of 4’23.946 saw him pip Hawk Racing’s Michael Dunlop by just 0.017sec to take pole for Saturday’s two superbike races.

Michael Rutter completes an all-BMW front row, despite lapping 1.5 seconds slower than the leading duo.

Lee Johnston, who led a large part of the session will start fourth on the East Coast Construction BMW despite still riding injured following a nasty crash at Scarborough.

Peter Hickman set the fifth fastest time to start from the middle of the second row, ahead of Ian Hutchinson on the Tyco BMW.

Gary Johnson leads row three in seventh ahead of John McGuinness and James Hillier, with Ryan Farquhar rounding out the top ten.

The session was red flagged after 35 minutes following an incident at Mill Road roundabout.

Both superbike races will take place on Saturday.
