NW200: 'Giant strides' for Hutchy during North West

Ian Hutchinson might have left the 2017 Vauxhall International North West 200 without victory but the Tyco BMW rider maintained it was a positive week as he focused on getting used to his new Dunlop tyres.

Switching from Metzeler rubber this year with the primary aim of clinching his first Superbike or Senior TT victory since 2010, Hutchinson spent most of the North West 200 working on set-up with his S1000RR shod with those new tyres.

While he didn’t manage to stand on the top step, he did manage to take Superbike, Superstock and Supersport podiums.

“It was a tough day with difficult conditions and although I didn’t manage to grab a win, it has been a great day for the team,” Hutchinson said. “We spent a lot of time this week working on set-up, having changed tyre manufacturer for the roads, but from the opening practice session to the final race, we have made giant strides – which leaves us in good shape now heading to the Isle of Man TT on my Tyco BMWs. Thanks to the boys in the team, who worked tirelessly this week and of course to all the fans who turned out today in mainly wet and miserable conditions to support us.”
