Edwards and Tamada share victories at Sugo

Colin Edwards became the first non-Japanese winner of the Sugo World Superbike round after his victory in race one. He took the win after battling hard with Japanese wildcard rider Makoto Tamada and WSB regular Noriyuki Haga.

Fourth went to Neil Hodgson who dropped back after a fast start, with Tory Bayliss taking fifth. Wildcard and former WSB regular Akira Yanagawa finished sixth, followed by Ben Bostrom, Wataru Yoshikawa, James Toseland and Takeshi Tsujimura rounding out the top ten.

Chris Walker finished in eleventh place, with Mark Heckles in twenty-first.

Race two was a reversal of race one, with Makoto Tamada taking the victory from Colin Edwards. Neil Hodgson made the podium ahead of Troy Bayliss.

Japanese riders Noriyuki Haga and Akira Yanagawa finished fifth and sixth, Ben Bostrom was seventh. Yoshikawa was eight, Xaus ninth and Tsujimura tenth.

James Toseland finished in eleventh place, two places ahead of fellow Brit Chris Walker in thirteenth.

Stephane Chambon won the Supersport race from teammate and pole sitter Katsuaki Fujiwara.The second Frenchman on the podium was Fabien Foret, with Paolo Casoli fourth and Christian Kellner fifth.

James Ellison’s thirteenth was the best place for a British rider after the retirements of Whitham, MacPherson and Frost.
