Amazing Chili comeback takes race two

1 of 1

Pierfrancesco Chili has taken a win in the second race at Misano after an amazing comeback. The Italian was 11 seconds down on leader Regis Laconi with 11 laps left in the race, but managed to catch and pass the factory Ducati rider on the final lap, posting his best lap of the race at the same time.

Chili managed to pass half the World Superbike field en route to his victory, riding the older Ducati 998, albeit with the newer 999 engine fitted.

The drama overshadowed a great performance by James Toseland, who managed to climb from 20th on the grid to eventually finish sixth and claim some needed championship points, just behind fellow Brit Leon Haslam. Chris Walker dropped through the field from a good position early on to finish 13th, while Garry McCoy finished a disappointing weekend in 17th place.
