Mladin 'would walk WSB'

Neil Hodgson has ruled out a return to MotoGP and claims that AMA star Matt Mladin – and four or five other AMA riders – would walk off with the WSB title if they rode in the world championship.

Hodgson made his comments in a webchat hosted by The Sun online.

He made similar comments about steering clear of MotoGP to guests assembled in Silverstone’s hospitality area at the British Superbike round there last weekend. There he claimed there was little point in a return because British riders would never get a competitive ride in MotoGP.

Instead, the former British and World superbike champion said he would be happy to return to either superbike championship.

Hodgson is fifth in the American Superbike series in advance of this weekend’s round in Virginia. He reckons racing in AMA has revealed to him that there are four or five riders in that championship – headed by series leader Mladin – who could win the World Superbike series “right now”.
