Hodgson's wet AMA start

Neil Hodgson has finished fourth fastest in a shortened practice session for the first round of the AMA Superbike championship at Daytona.

The Suzukis dominated the top of the leaderboard with Ben Spies, Matt Mladin and Aaron Yates taking the top three spots leaving Hodgson to take fourth.

The session was rained off half way through but Hodgson was confident he could improve his time on Thursday and be in contention for a win on Saturday.

“I was pleased to get one dry testing session in today, anyway. The bike was good, but we’re always looking to make it better. We’d like to have the track time tomorrow morning to keep improving it. I felt a little wooden out there today, with all the time off after the last test at Laguna Seca. No excuses from me, but I think I can do better, too.”

Hodgson’s Ducati team-mate Eric Bostrom only managed to push his full factory Ducati 999R to 11th place overall.

The weather isn’t forecast to improve much for the rest of the week so it could be an interesting qualifying session on Thursday afternoon.
