Hose drama hits Hodgson

Neil Hodgson was just one place out of a points-scoring psoition at the Pikes Peak AMA Superbike round on Sunday, May 22, after he was forced to pit with a water hose ‘issue’.

Hodgson had qualified on the front row of the grid, alongside team-mate and eventual race winner, Eric Bostrom. Looking for a win at his first visit to the track, his challenge effectively ended on lap nine.

“I knew there was something wrong pretty much straightaway,” said Hodgson. “I looked down and didn’t see anything, but my foot started slipping off the footpeg and I knew it was time to come in. That was the end.”

Although Hodgson did return to the race, he eventually finished in 31st, just one spot out of the poiints.

Meanwhile team-mate Eric Bostrom overcame a strong challenge from the Suzuki of Aaron Yates to take the win with a last lap pass. The result now moves Bostrom ahead of Hodgson in the championship with the pair currently in fourth and fifth positions.

The next race is at Road America in Wisconsin on June 3-5, 2005.
