Regis Laconi has put his factory Ducati 999F05 on pole for the World Superbike round at Silverstone this weekend, just pipping reigning world champion and team-mate James Toseland.

Laconi posted a lap of 1:27.578 in the dying minutes of the session to snatch the provisional pole, with Toseland on 1:27.627. Troy Corser was third quickest on the Alstare Suzuki on 1:27.696 with fellow Suzuki rider Yukio Kagayama fourth on 1:27.832.

Brit Chris Walker finished the session 10th quicket on the PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse machine, on 1:28.373.

Meanwhile in World Supersport, British wildcards Cal Crutchlow and Craig Jones have had a great first qualifying session, with Crutchlow fourth quickest and Jone sixth quickest on the Northpoint Hondas. Fellow Brit Tom Tunstall is in 18th place. See the WSS times on page three of this story.
