Double for Kagayama

1 of 1

Yukio Kagayama has taken his first ever double win at the Brno round of the World Superbike championship.

Spurred on by his race one win the Japanese Suzuki rider stormed past his team-mate and reigning WSB champion Troy Corser and former champ James Toseland to hunt down his close friend and rival Noriyuki Haga who had taken an early race lead.

Toseland’s tyres went off by half way through the race letting Kagayama storm after Haga on his own as Toseland held up everyone else.

Haga’s lap times slowed three laps before the end letting Kagayama fly passed and take out a two and a half second lead at the flag.

Michel Fabrizio again put in another amazing race catching Troy Corser and Haga on the last lap making for some incredible viewing as the three went in to the last set of corners side by side in every turn.

Fabrizio was ultimately the one with the most grip and managed to out-power the other two more experienced riders to take second place on the line.

Haga just managed to hold on to third by just three hundredths of a second despite some serious sideways action on the last corner.

Troy Bayliss had another bad race only managing to hold on to eighth place ahead of his team-mate Lorenzo Lanzi reducing his championship lead even further.
