Sufuoglu takes Valencia supersport win

1 of 1

An early battle for first place saw Kenan Sofuoglu (Honda), Andrew Pitt (Honda) and Pere Riba (Kawasaki)

Broc Parkes rode through the pain barrier at Valencia following his broken collar bone injury sustained at Donington to come fifth.

Team mate Kevin Curtain, who was also injured at Donington, crashed out on lap nine whilst battling for first place. Curtain got the best of his rivals on lap five to take the lead and a temporary new lap record.

As the race continued Curtain and Riba collided to take the pair out of the race along with Katsuaki Fujiwara.

Curtain was taken to hospital following his crash, but his collarbone injury had not been made any worse although he did sustain a 20cm long cut to his thigh caused by his foot peg.

The wet conditions fortunately cleared just ahead of the race, which suited Sofouglo as he rode to victory.

Andrew Pitt, covering for the injured Sebastian Charpentier, held on to secure second spot on his return to supersport.

Ducati’s Gianluca Nannelli fought hard for the last podium spot.
