Brands Hatch World Supersport: Sebastien Charpentier secures provisional pole

Sebastien Charpentier secured himself provisional pole position for Sunday’s World supersport race at Brands hatch following the first qualifying practice session. 

The French Hanspree Ten Kate rider continued his impressive form after topping the timesheets in free practice this morning to record a best time of 1:28.381.

But he did not have it all his own way with teammate Kenan Sofuoglu the fastest man on the track at the beginning of the session with a 1:30.354. But the times soon tumbled with Yamaha’s Broc Parkes immediately recording a 1:30.151 on his second lap out.

Kenan Sofuoglu finished in second behind Sebastien Charpentier with Broc Parkes best lap of 1:28.970 seeing him in third.

Britain’s Craig Jones continues his good from in practice as he went up to third with 18 minutes left of the session with a 1:29.174. This time was to eventually see him in fifth place on his Honda.

Tommy Hill was 0.4secs slower in qualifying one after his crash this morning’s practice. He finished the session in 11th on his Yamaha.

Robbin Harms was putting on some early pressure as he went quickest with a 1:29.565 after six minutes. His qualifying session was interrupted by a fall just after the half way point.
