Brands Hatch World Superbikes: Troy Bayliss tops qualifying after practice two

Troy Bayliss was the man of the moment in qualifying practice two at Brands Hatch this morning.

The Australian Ducati rider shot to the top of the timesheets just after the half way point of the session to end a half hour stalemate situation which had seen Britain’s James Toseland on top from yesterday.

Troy Bayliss recorded his best of 1:26.207, which was just under 0.2secs quicker than in qualifying practice one yesterday afternoon.

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda’s James Toseland burst out of the pits with yesterday’s time of 1:26.400. But the Sheffield rider failed to improve on this only managing a 1:26,753 today and finished the session in third behind Yamaha’s Troy Corser.

Corser moved up to second with a 1:26.387 with 22 minutes remaining of the session.

Britian’s second rider, Dean Ellison pulled off the circuit with a technical problem about half an hour in to the session. His best lap was a 1:29.030 which put him in 19th.
