Craig Jones is battling to be fit for the next round of the World Supersport series after being diagnosed with a suspected cracked pelvis sustained in the highside crash which put him out of the lead at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

The Honda Racing star had fans on their feet when he easily caught and passed Kenan Sofuoglu in the World Supersport race at Brands Hatch race before being spat off in an ugly crash at Clearways.

He landed on his side and is now waiting to hear if his pelvis is cracked.

Craig Jones said: “I can stand okay, but if I try and twist at all, or raise the leg and put weight on the top of the joint, it is agony.

“The chances are I have stretched the ligaments between the major pelvic bones, but the doctors say there is a possibility it has cracked.”

Craig Jones was leading World Supersport race for the first time when he crashed out, and he said: “I have always known I have the pace to run at the front, and I’m glad I showed I can.

“I have barely crashed at all this year, but annoyingly three of the seven I have had all season – in qualifying and tests and everything – have been on TV.

“The team is really gelling now, and though we don’t really know the next tracks – we did a small amount of testing at Vallelunga – I hope we can be right at the front again.”
