Nurburgring World Supersport: Britain's Craig Jones in provisional second

1 of 1

Britain’s Craig Jones has qualified on the provisional front row after a strong first qualifying session saw him end the day in second spot behind the factory Yamaha R6 of Broc Parkes.

Jones is still suffering from the broken fifth metacarpal in his left hand sustained in final qualifying at Monza four weeks ago, but despite being in discomfort has been fast throughout both sessions.

BE1 Triumph rider Mark Aitchison is another rider that has quickly got to grips with the tight and technical German circuit and put his 675cc triple in third spot.

Ten Kate Honda riders Andrew Pitt and Jonathan Rea were split by just over 1/10th of a second to take fourth and fifth place respectively.

Title contender Fabien Foret claimed sixth with current championship leader Joan Lascorz yet to show his previous race winning pace and is down in 11th place.

Chris Walker qualified ten places ahead of his Japanese team-mate Katsuaki Fujiwara but still ended up on the provisional fourth row in 15th place.

Graeme Gowland continued to adapt to his new bike and team to move up into 27th spot, with Tommy Hill experiencing more small technical problems and finishing in 29th pace.

Yamaha rider Broc Parkes once again topped the timesheets.
