Portimao WSB impressions

Living here in Portugaland having been a life long fan of all motorcycle events you can imagine how we felt knowing the WSB was coming to a track minutes away from our house.

Sunday was a day to remember with one of the greatest riders of the modern era competing at this new venue.

He did not dissapoint. Troy Bayliss went out in style.

What a pity there were down sides to our day. Why is it, when ample numbers of seats are available, people have to congregate and stand at the entrance ways thus causing those seated not to have the view they sought?

Surely the organisers will learn from their first event.

We were amazed to see armed police blocking our views when one or two stewards could have moved people on to seats.

Finally, after the racing it took two hours for us to travel home – 6km away – again improvements will be made to allow happy race-goers to leave reasonably quickly

All in all a good day and we who live here hope the fans continue to visit the Algarve.
