Magny Cours World Superbikes: Noriyuki Haga on top in rain hit qualifying session

Yamaha Italia rider Noriyuki Haga claimed provisional pole position at Magny Cours with a best lap of 1m 41.012s before rain brought a premature end to proceedings.

Haga completed just seven laps in cold conditions before a heavy shower meant that the entire grid returned to the pits.

WSB champion elect Troy Bayliss finished second with Carlos Checa third and fellow Spaniard Fonsi Nieto fourth.

Haga’s best lap was 2.5 seconds off James Toseland’s 2007 lap record so with the forecasted warmer weather conditions tomorrow, lap times are expected to tumble.
