Misano WSB: Hopkins out as rain hits Misano

John Hopkins will not ride in the two WSB races at Misano today due to injuries sustained in Assen in April. Hopkins planned to make his comeback this weekend, but has struggled throughout practice and qualifying with pain in his left leg that prevented him moving on the bike as he wanted.

His decision not to race has been helped by the wet weather at the Italian track. The Misano circuit is notoriously slippery in wet conditions, which was illustrated in this mornings warm-up session.

In Superbikes five riders crashed including Shane Byrne and Leon Haslam and in Supersport seven riders went down.

The weather forecast was for showers this morning with dry conditions this afternoon, but at time of writing it is still raining which means the opening Superbike race will almost certainly be declared a wet race.
