1 of 1

James Westmoreland turned 21 on Wednesday 24th June and he is celebrating by riding as a Wildcard in World Supersport this weekend at Donington Park.

Westmoreland is currently in fifth place in the British Supersport Championship riding for JW Racing aboard the all British Triumph. He completed first free practice at World Supersport in 13th place and was just 0.2secs off regular World Supersport and fellow Triumph rider, Garry McCoy who was in eighth place.

He said: “The front guys like Cal and Eugene are in a league of their own, but I’m not too far away from Garry McCoy on the Triumph. It is a steep learning curve but I’m really happy to be here.

“I managed a few laps with Anthony West and to think of the level he has raced at, it was good to learn from him. My bike is very competitive and it feels as good as anything else. Sometimes wildcard can just be eaten up but I want to hold my own.

“It was my birthday on Wednesday so this is a great 21st birthday present, just being here is enough.”
