John Hopkins buoyed by Colin Edwards advice

John Hopkins has told MCN of his excitement and anticipation at joining up with the Stiggy Honda WSB squad for the first time having spoken to fellow American Colin Edwards about the move.

Some of the Stiggy Honda crew used to work with Texan Edwards when he won his two World Superbike titles before moving to MotoGP in 2003 with Aprilia.

And Hopkins had sounded out the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider ahead of his move to the Stiggy Honda squad, where he will partner British rider Leon Haslam for the rest of the 2009 campaign.

“They run a good team. I was speaking to Colin Edwards about WSB last week and he had nothing but good things to say about it.

“He knows quite a few of the guys working on the Stiggy team and he praised them and the deal. He said it would be a great move and they run a really good team,“ said Hopkins, who will make his debut on a Honda CBR1000RR in Almeria next week before his first race in Valencia on April 5.
