Crutchlow fast despite crash

World Supersport Champion Cal Crutchlow wasted no time getting up to speed first time out onboard the factory Yamaha R1 Superbike he will campaign in 2010.

The 23 year old Brit immediately logged impressive lap times, but was caught out before lunch when he high-sided exiting the left hand hairpin.

Crutchlow suffered a bruised hip, but walked away from the crash and is now back on track testing.

Speaking to MCN, he said: “It’s certainly different riding a Superbike around here compared to my Supersport bike. Right now it feel a bit of a hand full, but it’s going ok.

“I’m really not sure what happened when I crashed. It was mid corner and I was off the throttle and the rear started juddering and then it flung me up in the air.

“When we got back to the pits the tyre looked like it was brand new, but it had done ten laps so that was a bit strange.”
