Tom Sykes has revealed that he still have a host of new parts and settings to test on his factory Kawasaki when he heads to the three day test at Portimao next week.

The 24 year old who switched from Yamaha to Kawasaki for 2010 remains confident in his new package, but accepts he has to be disciplined if he wants to evaluate everything in time for the opening race.

Speaking to MCN, he said: “We’ve still got big things to test and half of me knows that I’ve got to try everything where as the other half just wants to go fast and set a good lap time.

“We’ve still got a two day test in Phillip Island before the first race and that’s when we need to be fast so I really need to stay focussed at Portimao.”

“I have to take my hat off to Kawasaki because we’ve had a lot to test and the test this weekend is about getting rid of the things we don’t need.

“We need to go there and forget that all the other teams are even there and just concentrate on our own thing.”
