Chaz Davies was crowned World Supersport champion at Magny Cours on Sunday after a brilliant and accomplished season-long championship campaign.

The 24-year-old Brit has proved himself as the benchmark of the series through an ability to overcome adversity with supreme race craft and outright speed.

After the bitter disappointment of Imola seven days earlier where the engine of his ParkinGO Yamaha let go while he leading, Davies regrouped and was able to stay fully focussed throughout the Magny Cours weekend to claim sixth in the race and wrap up the WSS title with one round to go.

Speaking to MCN, a jubilant Davies said: “It definitely hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s an unbelievable feeling that has been a long time coming. I’ve been working for something like this for 15 years – since the day I started racing motorbikes.

“During that time there have been a lot more bad times than good times but this is the product of sticking at it and never giving up.”
