Decision imminent on Kawasaki future

The Paul Bird Motorsport team who currently run Kawasaki’s factory effort in WSB will find out next week if they will have their contract renewed for 2012.

Bird took control of Kawasaki’s racing effort in 2009 and is now at the end of his three year deal. Earlier this season teams were invited to tender for the contract to run the team with Paul Bird Motorsport, Provec Motorcard (current factory Kawasaki WSS team) Alstare and Pedercini Kawasaki all in contention.

Despite stories in the French media saying that Provec have won the bid and will run the team in 2012, Kawasaki’s European Race Planning Manager Steve Gutteridge said: “At this stage we are still discussing the situation and I have meetings with Project Leader Ichiro Yoda today. What I can say is that both Alstare and Pedercini have been told that they have not been successful so it’s between Paul Bird Motorsport and Provec.”
