Assen WSB: Lowes heads first WSS qualifying

British rider Sam Lowes finished the opening qualifying session in provisional pole position with a lap time of 1.38.900s.

The Bogdanka Honda rider set his best time on his seventh lap, mid way through the 45 minute session and before light rain began to fall at the Dutch circuit.

With more unsettled weather forecast for Tomorrow and Sunday, Lowes’ time today may well not be bettered in qualifying tomorrow which would  mean the 21 year old will start the race from pole position.

The rest of provisional front row is made up of Ten Kate rider Broc Parkes, championship leader Fabien Foret and PTR Honda rider Jules Cluzel .

Fast Turk Kenan Sofuoglu ended the session fifth fastest with Brit Martin Jessop in 18th spot.
