Positive second day for Rea at Phillip Island

Honda World Superbike’s Jonathan Rea continued to work through a host of chassis and suspension changes on day two of a three day private test at Phillip Island.

After completing in excess of 100 laps on day one, Rea and his team focussed their efforts on evaluating an array of different specification and stiffness factory Ohlins forks and rear shocks.

Having spent day one on standard Pirelli tyres, Rea completed a handful of laps on the same spec tyre as he used in last years race.

Speaking exclusively to MCN from Australia, Rea said: “We found some good speed today and as team we’re definitely more satisfied. On the first day the wind was really strong which made it difficult, today the wind changed so that it was in my face going down the straight but the rest of the track was better.

“We changed a lot of things on the bike, they are only small things but they are definitely making a difference. I felt fast today and there is still so much more we have to try.”

The Honda World Superbike teams test concludes on Thursday.
