2015 WSB calendar revealed

Dorna have at last revealed the 2015 World Superbike calendar, but with selected rounds confirmed already the rest of the calendar brings no major surprises to next season.

The season kicks off as usual at Philip Island in late February, with fans then having to wait a month for the second round at the newly introduced Chang International Circuit in Thailand. Following those flyaways, the series then returns to Europe to its traditional home.

Aragon will be the host of the first European race in mid-April, before Assen, Imola, Donington Park, Portimao, and Misano come in quick succession. The 24th May date at Donington Park will be the circuit’s second of three big weekends of 2014, with MCE British Superbikes opening their season there in early April, before MotoGP returns in August.

The calendar then throws forwards one surprise, returning to Russia and the Moscow Raceway. The round was cancelled in 2014 following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the following political instability, and it remains to be seen whether the geopolitical situation will have improved in time for the July date.

A brace of flyaways comes after the Russian round, with Laguna Seca in California and Sepang in Malaysia coming before a long summer break.

Returning almost two months later on the 20th September at Jerez, the series finishes its European leg at Magny Cours on the 4th October, before heading to Qatar for a floodlit season finale on the 18th.

There will also be three official tests; the traditional pre-Philip Island test in February, a day at Portimao following the race there, and a late season test at Jerez in September.
