WSB Assen: Davies leads the field into Superpole

1 of 1

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing Ducati WSB) headed the 24 riders in WSB at Assen into the Superpole contest, with a best lap time of 1’35.748 set on Friday. Although all the top riders behind him improved their Friday times this morning none were able to overtake the Welsh rider thanks to cool track conditions, despite the overhead sunshine.

Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Red Devils) was 0.198 seconds behind Chaz, with Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea from the KRT squad 0.07 in turn just behind Haslam and separated from each other by only 0.003.

Jordi Torres, Haslam’s Aprilia team-mate displaced local hero Michal van der Mark to sixth place in the final timed session before Superpole.

Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) placed seventh on the virtual grid, just over 0.5 seconds from lead man Davies. He exited the session right at the end with a technical problem, as did Leandro Mercado on his Ducati.

Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) was tenth on his MV, a strong result for the Italian manufacturer and English rider.
