Sykes controls from Rea and Davies

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) took his third race win of the year, in perfect conditions at Misano, leading from flag-to-flag and finishing 3.613 seconds ahead of his eventual closest challenger, his own team-mate Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team).

The Ducati of Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati WSB) was in second for most of the largely processional race but the battle for second became a late epic, with Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati WSB) passing Giugliano and then Rea for a period, with his last gasp attempted pass in Rea giving him third – from 11th on the grid. Giugliano was fourth at the flag.

A late fight between Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) and Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing Team) went the way of Haslam, with Biaggi scoring sixth – 12.3 seconds from Sykes after 21 intense laps.

Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia SBK Team) got the better of stand-in rider Michele Pirro (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati WSB) with team-mates Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda WSB) and Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda WSB) rounding out the top ten.

Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Team Ducati) held off Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) for 11th. Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) placed 11th. Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) was an early faller.
