Melandri Speaks MV First Contact

Marco Melandri was the lone rider on the WSBK MV Agusta in the first morning of the Jerez tests, running a machine set-up similar to the one used by team regular rider, Leon Camier.

There were some instantly noticeable differences for the one-time Superbike rider who had a nightmare season in MotoGP with Aprilia in 2015. “The fuel tank for me is very big,” said Melandri after two sets of pitlane exits on the F4 RR. “It is big limit for me because I am small. When I have to move from left to right, I have to go around the tank. So it is very difficult. Even when I try to put the load in the front I cannot go as much forward as I want to go. So we will see.”

Melandri also found some good points but needs to get the entire bike to work together for him before he goers out to set faster times. “Some things are not so bad but we will see,” he stated. “I am running it like Leon has it but it is too hard because he is heavier than me. Everything is very hard. I need to change many things, and even in he engine he is using it much different than I like to use.”
