Local rider Wilairot fastest in WSS free practice

In the 2016 FIM Supersport World Championship category at the 4.554km long Buriram circuit a local rider led the qualifying field, with Ratthapong Wilairot and his A.P. Honda Racing CBR600RR setting the best lap of the opening day.

His bother Ratthapark won the Thai WSS race last year but this time it was his wildcard sibling leading the field, on day one at least.

Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) scored second place in the timesheets, with variety to the fore as the three-cylinder MV Agusta of Jules Cluzel sat in third place.

British rider Gino Rea (GRT MV Agusta) made a jump up the order from his morning placing to fourth, while first session leader Randy Krummenacher (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) was only fifth overall, after making a small lap time improvement this afternoon.

Kyle Smith (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) was sixth and another good day for MV riders put Nico Terol (Schmidt racing MV Agusta seventh, one up on the Race Department ATK25 MV competitor Alex Baldolini).

PJ Jacobsen (Honda World Supersport Team) was ninth and new British WSS hope like Stapleford (CIA landlord Insurance Profile Honda) tenth from 25 riders.
