WSB: Haslam impresses on WSB return

MCE British Superbike-runner up Leon Haslam impressed as he returned to WSB in a one-off ride for the Pedercini Kawasaki team last weekend.

At a track he won at with Aprilia last year, Haslam stormed through from 16th on the grid to take an astonishing fifth place finish in Sunday’s restarted second race despite having been absent from the WSB field for a year.

“Friday was a disaster, Saturday was a disaster but the guys worked really hard,” said Haslam, who missed the first hour almost entirely on the opening day.

“That was our third engine of the weekend that we had to change. We had a big vibration and interference with how the electronics was working with the engine spec we had. Today’s engine was working better and chassis-wise I was happy with the progress we have made, all from very minimal laps.

“That was Pedercini’s best result in the dry this year, and we were up to third at one point so I’m happy!”
