WSB: Hayden: 'We have a big job ahead of us'

Nicky Hayden has said the new-look Red Bull Honda team have a big job ahead of them as they prepare to debut the Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR SP2 at Phillip Island later this month.

The ten Kate team only took delivery of the new ‘blade three weeks before they set off for their first test in January, leaving them with a lot of work to do in preparation of the first round at the end of this month.

As would be expected with a new bike, the first two tests for Hayden and team-mate Bradl were difficult but both riders were confident the Dutch outfit could pull it out of the bag for the start of the season.

“It’s a new year with a new bike, new title partner and new team-mate, so there are definitely many changes ahead and a lot of things to look forward to,” Hayden said at the team launch in Salzburg. “This is my second year in World Superbike so I hope to take the experience I gained last year and take it up to the next level.

“We have to focus now on the job ahead and work as hard as we can ready for the season opener. The level of competition is higher than ever and we have a big job ahead of us, but everyone is really motivated and I can’t wait to get started.”
