Video: How to build Honda Fireblade World Superbike
Honda Pro Racing have released a new video looking into the complex world of developing a competitive World Superbike.
Featuring insights from Honda World Superbike Operations Manager, Chris Pike, as well as Dino Acocella, who works in chassis development for the team, the video divulges information on such topics as engine tuning, geometry and weight reduction.
- First pictures emerge of David Johnson with Tyco BMW HP4 at Ulster GP
- MotoGP: Trouble ahead as rain threatens in Austria
- MotoGP: No surgery for Espargaro but out for Austria
- BSB: Heroic podium for sick Hickman
Speaking in the short film, Operations Manager Pike says: "The roadbike itself is known for its agility and smooth engine character.
"When we tune the engine, we push the power further up into the rev range. The SP2 production engine produces 189bhp at 13,000rpm and by the time we've finished tuning, we have over 220bhp at 14,300rpm."
To see the bike in action, the World Superbike Championship will return on September 14 to 16 at Portimão, in Portugal. If you can't wait that long, the full video is below:
