Michelin will become the official tyre supplier for the World Superbike Championship from 2027 after agreeing a five-year deal.

The French company will supply tyres to all categories withing the WorldSBK paddock, including World Supersport, World Sportbike and Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR).

It brings an end to Pirelli’s long-standing partnership with WorldSBK which began in 2004. It also coincides with Pirelli’s switch to MotoGP in 2027, replacing Michelin. Pirelli already supply tyres to the Moto3 and Moto2 classes within the MotoGP paddock.

“The five-year partnership, running through to 2031, highlights the shared commitment of Michelin and the Championships to innovation, sustainability, safety, and ongoing development benefiting motorcycle users,” a statement on the official WorldSBK website said.

“Michelin will focus specifically on continuous improvement in tyre quality, durability, and safety, aligning closely with the Championship’s high technical standards and competitive spirit.

“Michelin’s extensive motorsport experience and technological know-how will ensure consistent performance across diverse conditions and the range of tracks featured on the championship calendar, supporting teams and riders in maintaining a highly competitive field throughout the season.”

Reigning WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu, accustomed to using Pirelli tyres, will make the jump to MotoGP next season, opting to gain a year of experience in the championship before the Pirelli deal comes into effect.

Likewise, current championship leader Nicolo Bulega will test the 2027 MotoGP Ducati Desmosedici with Pirelli tyres next season, putting him in a perfect position should an opportunity arise the following year.

With Michelin now moving into WorldSBK, it will make the series more attractive to riders who may be edging closer to the end of their MotoGP careers. Race winners such as Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira have been linked with potential moves to WorldSBK in recent weeks, although nothing has been confirmed.
