Elvington Airfield to host four days of high-speed motorcycle action with Straightliners Speed Week

Speed Week will thunder back to Elvington Airfield this May 22–25, promising four days of action as riders and drivers chase national and world records across a range of disciplines.

Held on one of the UK’s longest runways, the Straightliners event will host top-speed runs as well as wheelie attempts, which will see riders pulling a mono while travelling in excess of 200mph.

“There’ll be all sorts of daft things along, to people knocking on the door of 300mph,” event director Trevor Duckworth told MCN.

“The racers lift the bar every event. If we get good conditions, who knows whether they can [hit 300mph].”

One of those aiming high is Holeshot Racing’s Jarrod ‘Jack’ Frost, who returns with eyes set on breaking the outright two-up speed record, having hit 224mph in practice earlier this year.

Entries are still coming in, with 40-50 machines expected, competing over distances including the standing mile, mile-and-a-quarter, half-mile, flying kilo, and more.
