Ducati Streetfighter V4 updated: Electronic updates and track focused SP2 model unveiled

1 of 9

Ducati have updated their Streetfighter V4 range with learnings from the Panigale including an updated chassis set up, fancier electronics and a top of the range track-spec SP2 model.

The biggest change really is in the 0s and 1s, with power modes ported over from the Panigale. There are four power modes – Full, High, Medium and Low.

They’ve all been redone and pretty much do what they say on the tin, with the biggest change that High and Medium have gear-by-gear torque curves. Ducati have also added a Wet mode, a somewhat astonishing omission thus far, which will no doubt be useful for the two owners who take their bikes out in the rain.

With these new modes comes a new dash setup (Track Evo), again from the Pani, which apes the layout of the GP bikes. There’s also new engine braking software (one guess where they copied it from) plus an update to the quickshifter.

For the chassis changes, Ducati have looked to the Diavel – joking obviously, it’s all from the Panigale. The V4S comes with semi-active Öhlins NIX30 forks and a TTX36 shock, while the swingarm pivot has moved 4mm higher. The fuel tank too is from the Panigale, growing 1l up to 17l total while also changing shape to improve support under heavy braking.

Also to make it look extra sporty, the new V4s will be delivered with the pillion seat and footrests in the box. Presumably it will come with an Allen key for the full £20,000 Ikea experience. The V4S is also available in a new colour, Grey Nero, perfect if you love Italian exotica and are somehow also a shrinking violet.

The 2023 Ducati Streetfighter V4 will cost £21,095 with the S climbing to £22,895. They’re expected to hit dealers in January.

As timely announcements come, Ducati’s SP2 couldn’t be better. Just as BMW attempted to grab the supernaked crown with the M1000R, Ducati have managed some last-minute one-upmanship.

So what is the SP2? Basically a fancy V4 with the additional of carbon rims (saving 1.4kg), Brembo Stylema R front calipers and an STM-EVO SBK dry clutch.

So how much does the added bling and exclusivity cost? The SP2 will set you back £30,595! That’s over £10,000 more than an M1000R.
