Yamaha have announced updates to their smallest retro offerings, the £4951 XSR125 and £5351 XSR125 Legacy.

Both naked uprights now feature a single-cylinder engine meeting Euro5+ compliance, producing the A1 class cap of 14.8bhp. This motor contains a Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system for a broader spread of performance and is shared with the MT-125 and R125, too.

On top of subtle emissions-enforced tweaks, the more expensive Legacy model now comes in ‘Legend Silver’ – a design noticeably inspired by the firm’s iconic XT500 thumper of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The standard XSR, which is differentiated by its cast wheels and more road-focussed tyres comes in a choice of grey, blue, or white.

Besides that, both remain as they were before, and can be ridden on an A1 licence, or CBT certificate. The previous Legacy edition was available in ‘Historic Black’ only – a mixture of black, silver, and gold that felt reminiscent of a JPS racing livery.

Swapping two wheels for three, the Japanese firm have also updated their larger Tricity 300 scooter, which is designed for urban commuters and has the ability to stand up for itself at the traffic lights and below 10kph.

The 292cc single-cylinder engine has now been treated to a lighter exhaust and produces a modest 27.6bhp at 7250rpm. Now priced at £8679, it comes in a choice of ‘Milky White’, or ‘Zen Green’ and ‘Power Grey’.
