Retro baby: CFMoto add 300 CL-X to roadster range

CFMoto have bolstered their CL-X roadster range with a new 300cc version. The new baby CL-X uses a similar design to the firm’s 700 CL-X Heritage, meaning flat bars for an upright riding position and a modern take on retro roadster looks.

We expected to see the 300 CL-X in the UK by early 2022 but the model failed to arrive officially until now with an official unveiling at Eicma.

Underneath the trendy styling, the CL-X is essentially a 300NK with the same trellis frame, cast wheels, radiator and swingarm.

The 300 also uses the same 292cc single as the 300SR and 300NK models, meaning just over 20bhp and around 18lb.ft of torque on tap. That doesn’t sound like much, but with the bike weighing in at a claimed 155kg, it should be enough for inner city fun.

The new model also inherits Continental two-channel ABS and the round digital/analogue dash readout from its bigger 700cc brother. A single 292mm front brake disc and 220mm rear are adjudged to be enough for the smaller version, though.

Seat height is a new rider-friendly 795mm, low enough to avoid intimidating those with A2 licenses getting used to life beyond a 125.
