KTM are building just 100 of these 450 Rally Replicas for serious off-road racers - Price on application

KTM have revealed their latest 450 Rally Replica – designed to be the toughest competition off-roader for the most serious of racing enthusiasts.

This year’s bike (confusingly classed as a 2025 model by the factory) will be limited to just 100 units across the globe, with serious customers instructed to get in touch with their local dealer for pricing.

Unlike the Austrian firm’s road-friendly adventurers, such as the 790 and 890 Adventure, the 450 Rally Replica takes its lead from the 450 enduro and motocross stable and is designed to travel from point to point, on any surface, as fast as possible.

KTM have become so adept at this that since the arrival of the original 450 Rally racer they have taken 235 Dakar stage wins and 10 Dakar titles – with this next-gen model representing the biggest update since 2020.

At the heart of the bike lies a 450cc fuel-injected single, featuring a new SOHC cylinder head, reinforced clutch, and strengthened gearbox.

This being a competition machine, KTM haven’t released power figures – with the engine now treated to two radiators rather than one, for improved cooling efficiency when ridden at the limit over extended periods.

To mount these in place, there’s a new trellis frame, which is hand-welded in the KTM Motorsports facility in Austria. The structure is assembled from laser-cut, hydro-formed sections of tubing, and is combined with a die-cast aluminium swingarm, designed to offer the ideal combination of stiffness and light weight.

There’s no conventional subframe at the back end. Instead, the bike gains a self-supporting 16-litre fuel tank to do the job. This works in combination with two conventionally placed tanks up front – one for nine litres and another for 9.5.

In total, there will be 34.5 litres sloshing around (that is 4.5 more than a BMW R1250GS Adventure) allowing riders to complete the longest, most demanding rally stages they’re likely to come across.

The 450 is shrouded by revised bodywork which is intended to have a more aggressive profile than before. This is coupled with a tall navigation tower made from carbon fibre which sits behind a redesigned fairing, offering improved aeros and reducing buffeting during hours of competition riding.

KTM 450 Rally Replica in detail

  • Stable steering: To stop any nasty wobbles, each bike comes with a Scotts steering damper.
  • Springing up: Being a competition machine, there is competition-spec suspension, with 48mm WP XACT Pro closed cartridge forks, and WP monoshock – all fully adjustable.
  • Seeking shelter: The new front bodywork should mean less turbulence and buffeting while seated – helping to reduce the physical strain of a rally stage.
  • Bright spark: There’s a new LED headlight incorporated into the front mask, this is claimed to increase output by 33% over the outgoing model.
  • Cubby holes: There is a storage space integrated into the engine cover, designed to hold essential tools and small items, should they be required.
