Failing to stop for the police

I was caught doing 50mph in a 30mph zone by policeman who claims he was stood at the side of the road and tried to pull me over.

I did not see him and now I am being summoned to court for speeding and failing to stop.

Can anybody give me advice and tell me the max penalty I can get. My speed was recorded by a handheld gun
