1995 GP500 runner-up Daryl Beattie has been banned from driving for a year after failing to give a breath test in Australia.

40 year old Beattie rode for Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki factory teams in the nineties, finishing ahead of team-mate Mick Doohan in 1994.

He is currently employed as a commentator for an Australian TV channel.
