Speed Triple 94 to lead a trio of special Triumphs

Triumph has three new special edition machines in the wings for launch later this year, according to new vehicle certification information.

The bikes will be based on its Speed Triple 1050, Bonneville and Thruxton machines.

Little is known of the three bikes, but they have been certified with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as 2015 models, which often happens months ahead of a bike’s official launch.

The first is a Speed Triple 94, which we understand is a cosmetic overhaul for the current Speed Triple model to celebrate 21 years since the much-loved naked bike was first introduced with the T309 Speed Triple version in 1994.

The second is a Bonneville T214, which celebrates the speed record of 214mph set in 1955 (and 1956) by a streamliner model.

The final bike is listed in certification paperwork as a Thruxton Ace, which is expected to be a café racer with a nod to the famous north London café that played such an integral part in the 1960s motorcycle scene.
